Three men were fined after mocking and verbally abusing a police officer who stopped them from entering a cordoned-off murder scene near Kitchener Road.
The Incident
On September 22, 2025, around 5 a.m., four men — Alex Kumar Gnanasekaran (38), Md Dino Marciano Abdul Wahab (45), Mohamed Eusof Mohamed Yahiya (33), and Mohanan V. Balakrishnan (39) — were returning from a night of drinking and clubbing when they came across a police cordon at Sam Leong Road.
When officers told them to stay back, the group refused and demanded to walk through the restricted area. Alex became aggressive and shouted vulgarities, saying:
“We are paying tax” and “I can show you 100% gangster.”
Dino mocked the officer, saying, “You talked like gangster, we all scared you know,” while Eusof taunted, “He is going to cry already.”
Mohanan filmed the encounter, which lasted about three minutes before other officers intervened. The video later circulated online, prompting a police report.
Court Sentencing
- Alex Kumar was fined $4,000.
- Md Dino Marciano and Mohamed Eusof were each fined $5,000.
- Mohanan, who recorded the video, was earlier fined $3,500.
All three pleaded guilty to using insulting words toward a public servant.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Tan Jun Ya argued for stiff penalties, stating that the men’s conduct obstructed police officers and showed “disregard for authority.”
District Judge Lim Tse Haw noted that Dino and Eusof had previous offences involving public servants, while Alex had minor traffic violations but had since sought counselling, indicating remorse.
