A 41-year-old Indonesian man will be charged with murder after allegedly killing his 38-year-old wife at the Capri by Fraser China Square hotel on South Bridge Road.
According to the Singapore Police Force, the suspect walked into Bukit Merah East Neighbourhood Police Centre around 7:40am on Friday and confessed that he had killed his wife. Officers were dispatched immediately to the hotel, where they discovered the woman lying motionless in a room. Paramedics later pronounced her dead at the scene.
CNA understands that the woman had been stabbed, and the couple had checked into the hotel around 5pm on Thursday, appearing calm and cheerful at the time.
Police and Witness Accounts
- A café employee next to the hotel said police vehicles arrived around 8am, while a guest saw multiple officers by 9am.
- By noon, the body was moved into a police hearse, and investigators were later seen loading bags of evidence into a van.
- Both uniformed and plainclothes officers remained at the scene for several hours.
Hotel’s Response
A Frasers Hospitality spokesperson expressed that the company was “deeply saddened by the tragic incident” and is fully cooperating with the authorities. Support is being provided to guests and staff affected by the case.
Legal Proceedings
The offence of murder in Singapore carries the death penalty. Police investigations remain ongoing.
